Eric M. Swinyard
About
Eric Swinyard is the founding partner of Eric Swinyard & Associates, PLLC. He is a divorce and family law attorney who serves clients throughout the State of Utah. He handles all types of divorce and family law matters — from simple, uncontested divorces to hotly contested, multi-day trials involving expert witnesses and complex custody, financial, and property division issues.
Eric’s approach is to be both blunt and deeply caring. Clients and opposing counsel alike quickly notice his sharp wit paired with genuine compassion. He is exceptionally well-prepared in both negotiation and litigation, leaving nothing to chance whether at the settlement table or in the courtroom.
Eric began practicing law after earning his J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Arizona. He also holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Utah. He previously interned with the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Judiciary. Eric is admitted to practice law in Utah.
One thing Eric is especially proud of is the professionalism, kindness, and sense of humor of the outstanding people who work alongside him every day.
In his spare time, Eric enjoys cooking and reading, along with sailing, hiking, mountain biking, watching and playing sports, and — most of all — spending time with his wife, children, and dog.

Protect Your Rights
It’s incredibly easy to be taken advantage of during litigation, especially if you are unrepresented by legal counsel.
You don’t want to be in a situation where you need an attorney, but life happens and sometimes you need to make that phone call. Regardless of whether you think you need an attorney, you should start by reaching out and having a detailed conversation regarding your position. During this consultation, you will discuss your situation with your attorney, put a plan in place for moving your case forward, and agree on a fee that takes into account your legal needs and financial situation.
